TL;DR: The best veterinary rota software depends on what your practice actually needs. Findmyshift is the cheapest for tiny teams, RotaCloud the best budget all-rounder, Deputy suits large multi-site groups, iTeam Rota is the big vet-specific vendor, and Vet HR builds the rota around your practice under your own branding with HR advice attached. Prices below are from each vendor’s own published pages, checked on 17 July 2026.
Full disclosure before anything else: Vet HR, who publish this guide, build one of the five tools compared here. We have kept every claim about the others to what their own websites publish, dated the day we checked, and we say plainly where a rival is the better fit. That is the deal that makes a comparison like this worth reading.

Judge any rota tool on five things: whether it models veterinary patterns such as OOH and on-call layers rather than just shifts, what the real monthly total is once add-ons are included, who answers the employment law question behind a rota dispute, what happens to your data if you leave, and whose branding your team sees every day.
A rota is not just a grid. It carries fairness arguments about weekends, rest rules that constrain what patterns are lawful, and records you may need in a holiday or working time question years later. The software choice decides how much of that weight is carried for you. For the full checklist, see our guide to choosing a veterinary rota app.
| Tool | Published pricing (checked 17 July 2026) | Veterinary specific? | HR advice included? |
|---|---|---|---|
| iTeam Rota (Agilio) | Not published, demo based | Yes | Sold separately as a module |
| RotaCloud | From £10 a month for 1 to 5 staff, clock-in add-on extra | Vets landing page, generalist product | No |
| Deputy | From £3.25 per user a month, £20 monthly minimum | No vet page, case studies only | No, HR add-on is software only |
| Findmyshift | Free up to 5 staff, then from £21 per team a month | No | No |
| Vet HR | Quoted in writing per practice | Yes, veterinary only | Yes, consultancy included |

iTeam Rota is Agilio’s rota product for veterinary practices: role-specific rotas, on-call, visibility of TOIL, CPD and sickness, and multi-site views. It is genuinely veterinary software from a large healthcare vendor, and if your practice already uses Agilio’s training or HR record products, it slots into that ecosystem.
The things to pin down are commercial. Agilio’s iTeam Rota page publishes no pricing, the rota is sold separately from the iTeam HR product, and no subscription terms for the veterinary range appear on the public policies page. Ask for the full modular total and the exit terms in writing. We set out the questions in our Agilio iTeam comparison.
Best for: practices that want vet-specific software from a large vendor and are comfortable pricing a module catalogue by quote.
RotaCloud is UK-built rota software with published banded pricing: for one to five staff the Standard plan is £10 a month and Pro is £15, roughly doubling per band as headcount grows, per their pricing page. There is a 30 day trial, no long-term contract, and you can cancel at any time. It has a veterinary landing page and named vet practice customers.
Two catches for a practice. Clock-in and timesheets sit in a paid Time and Attendance add-on rather than the base plan, so price the whole stack. And it is rota software only: nobody on the other end answers the holiday accrual or working time question the rota argument is really about. Our RotaCloud comparison covers both in detail.
Best for: practices with straightforward rotas that want honest UK software at a published price and handle HR questions elsewhere.
Deputy is a global scheduling platform serving over 320,000 workplaces by its own count, with auto-scheduling, demand forecasting and biometric clocking. UK pricing is per user per month: Lite at £3.25, Core at £4.25 and Pro at £6.50, with HR, messaging and analytics as separate per-user add-ons and a £20 monthly minimum invoice, per their UK pricing page.
For a fifteen person practice the per-user arithmetic adds up quickly, annual plans are billed upfront and stated as non-refundable if cancelled early, and there is no veterinary product page: vet presence is limited to customer case studies. The scale is real, and so is the configuration work to make a global product fit UK veterinary patterns. More in our Deputy comparison.
Best for: larger multi-site groups that want enterprise scheduling features and have someone to own the configuration.

Findmyshift prices per team rather than per person: free for up to five team members, Starter at £21 per team a month for up to twenty, Business at £31, per their pricing page. The first three months are free, there is no contract, and they offer a refund on any remaining subscription at any time. For a tiny team with simple shifts it is hard to beat on price.
The structural limits matter as you grow: the Starter plan has a single manager account, which is awkward when the practice manager, head nurse and a director all touch the rota, and historical data is capped by tier. There is no veterinary product and no HR support behind the software. Our Findmyshift comparison walks through the limits.
Best for: very small practices with simple rotas and a tight budget, especially at five staff or fewer where it is free.
This is ours, so judge the framing accordingly. The Vet HR rota system is not off-the-shelf software: we model your practice’s patterns first, on-call zones, OOH recovery, swap rules, clinical cover, then build the rota, clock in and out and holiday calculations as one system carrying your practice’s own branding. Behind the software sits HR consultancy from the same people, so the working time question gets an answer, not a knowledge base article.
We publish no price list because every build is different: pricing is per practice, quoted in writing before any work begins. If your rota is simple and your budget is the deciding factor, one of the tools above will honestly serve you better, and we will say so if you ask. The practices we fit are the ones whose rota stopped being simple.
Best for: independent UK practices of roughly 5 to 50 staff that want the rota built around veterinary reality, their own branding on every screen, and HR advice attached.
For five staff or fewer with simple shifts, Findmyshift’s free tier is the sensible starting point, moving to RotaCloud when you want a slicker app and UK support. Once OOH fairness, irregular hours holiday and multi-site cover enter the picture, weigh the vet-specific options: iTeam Rota or a Vet HR build.
From the published pages checked on 17 July 2026: free to £21 a month per team on Findmyshift, from £10 a month banded on RotaCloud plus add-ons, from £3.25 per user a month on Deputy with a £20 monthly minimum, quote-based for iTeam Rota, and quoted in writing per practice for a Vet HR build.
Test it rather than trust it. Generic tools model shifts well and on-call layers less well. Build your hardest fortnight in the trial: first and second on call, OOH recovery time, a weekend rotation. If you end up keeping a spreadsheet alongside the app, the app has failed the test.
On their published pages, RotaCloud, Deputy and Findmyshift are software only, and Deputy’s HR add-on is document and onboarding software rather than advice. Agilio sells an advice line as a separate module. Vet HR includes HR consultancy with the build, because in our experience the rota argument is usually an employment question wearing a rota costume.
Price the whole stack at your real headcount, test your hardest rota patterns in every trial, and decide who you want on the phone when the rota starts an argument. If that last question matters to your practice, book a free HR health check and we will look at your rota with you, or start with our full provider comparisons. If it does not, one of the simpler tools above is the right answer, and now you know which.
The Vet HR Team builds white-labelled staff systems and provides HR consultancy exclusively for UK veterinary practices.
