Veterinary HR in Hampshire

Our home county. Your HR department.

Vet HR is based in Portsmouth, so Hampshire is the one county where we are never more than an hour from your practice. From city clinics in Southampton and Portsmouth to New Forest equine work and rural mixed practice in the west of the county, we provide veterinary HR in Hampshire the way it should be: specialist, on site when it matters and always in writing.

01What makes it different

Hampshire has every kind of practice: city, suburban, equine and farm. The HR pressures are different in each. We know them all.

A two-vet clinic in Fareham, an equine practice working the New Forest and a growing group around Winchester have almost nothing in common operationally except one thing: nobody in the building whose actual job is HR.

That is the job we take. Contracts, policies, rotas, holiday, incidents and the difficult conversations, handled by a specialist who can be in your practice without it being an event.

02The pressures

Where veterinary HR in Hampshire earns its keep.

Three pressures we see again and again, and what fixing them properly looks like.

01

Recruiting against two cities

Practices between Portsmouth and Southampton compete for the same RVNs and receptionists. When pay is similar, the practices that keep people are the ones where rotas are fair, leave is easy and problems are dealt with properly. That is an HR advantage you can build deliberately.

02

The New Forest and equine work

Hampshire's equine and ambulatory work brings lone working, on call zones and hours that live in a vehicle rather than a building. Those need policies and time capture designed for the road, not adapted from an office handbook.

03

Growing past the founder's capacity

A lot of Hampshire practices are independents that have grown to twelve or twenty staff with the owner still doing HR at the kitchen table. That is usually the point where contracts, policies and records need to be rebuilt properly, once.

03The systems

White-labelled systems, mapped to your kind of practice.

Every system carries your practice's name and branding, not ours. These are the ones that matter most here.

04Questions

Asked by practices like yours.

Do you visit practices in Hampshire in person?

Yes. We are based in Portsmouth, so anywhere in Hampshire is close. On-site visits, in-person health checks and face-to-face difficult conversations are all normal parts of how we work in our home county.

Which parts of Hampshire do you cover?

All of it: Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke, Andover, the New Forest and everywhere between. Remote support runs alongside visits, twelve hours a day, seven days a week.

What does it cost?

Every engagement is quoted per practice, in writing, before anything starts. The first step, a 30-minute HR health check, is free and carries no obligation.

We are an equine practice in the Forest. Is that your territory?

Very much so. Ambulatory and equine work is one of our specialisms, from on call zone rotas to lone working policy. Start with the free health check and we will look at your setup specifically.
