Veterinary HR in Sussex

From Brighton pavement to Weald farmland, one HR partner.

Sussex runs the full spread: dense small animal work in Brighton and the coastal towns, equine and mixed practice through the Weald and the Downs. Vet HR provides veterinary HR in Sussex for all of it: contracts, rotas, policies and white-labelled staff systems, from a specialist an hour along the coast in Portsmouth.

01What makes it different

A county of two speeds: city clinics that never pause, rural rounds that never shorten. Both run on the same thing: a team that stays.

Brighton's clinics deal with volume, part-time patterns and a young, mobile workforce. The Weald's mixed and equine practices deal with distance, lone working and on call that covers real countryside. Different problems, same underlying need.

Contracts that fit the actual roles, rotas that are fair on purpose, policies people have genuinely read and records that hold up. We build that spine for Sussex practices and keep it maintained.

02The pressures

Where veterinary HR in Sussex earns its keep.

Three pressures we see again and again, and what fixing them properly looks like.

01

Brighton's part-time patchwork

City clinics run on part-timers with different days, hours and term-time patterns. Holiday entitlement and accrual for irregular patterns is exactly where spreadsheets fail and where staff trust is lost when the numbers feel wrong.

02

Distance in the countryside

Rural Sussex practice means road miles, yards and farms, and on call across a wide patch. Lone working policy, zone-based on call and time capture from a phone are the HR that fits.

03

Small towns, long memories

In Worthing, Lewes or Chichester, staff, clients and neighbouring practices all know each other. Grievances and departures handled badly follow a practice around. Handled properly, they barely register.

03The systems

White-labelled systems, mapped to your kind of practice.

Every system carries your practice's name and branding, not ours. These are the ones that matter most here.

04Questions

Asked by practices like yours.

Do you cover both East and West Sussex?

Yes, the whole county: Brighton and Hove, Worthing, Chichester, Eastbourne, Horsham and the rural Weald between. Portsmouth is an hour along the A27, so on-site visits are routine.

Our team is mostly part-time. Is that a problem?

It is normal, and it is exactly what the holiday and rota systems are built for: different days, different hours, accrual handled automatically and fairly.

What does the free health check involve?

Thirty minutes on your contracts, policies, rota and anything keeping you awake. You get a plain-English verdict and, if you want it, a fixed written quote for the fixes.

Can everything be done remotely?

Almost everything, and support runs twelve hours a day, seven days a week. But being an hour away means the difficult moments can have a person in the room.
