These are the questions practices ask us most: what the free health check really is, why there are no prices on the site, whether you are locked in, and exactly where your staff data lives. The answers are the same ones we would give you on the phone.

What is the free HR health check, really?

A 30-minute conversation about your practice: contracts, policies, rotas, anything keeping you awake. You get a plain-English verdict on where you stand and what we would prioritise. There is no obligation and no scripted upsell at the end.

Do you only work with veterinary practices?

Yes, exclusively. UK veterinary practices, mostly independent and small-group, typically five to fifty staff. That focus is the product.

Are you a law firm?

No. Vet HR provides HR consultancy and documentation support. Where a matter genuinely needs regulated legal advice, we say so plainly and help you brief the right person.

Where are you based, and does it matter?

Portsmouth, working with practices across the UK. Support runs remotely and responsively, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

How fast do you respond when something happens?

Subscription clients get advice the same day wherever humanly possible. If a situation is unfolding, a resignation, an allegation, a walk-out, call rather than email: 0800 023 5232.

Why are there no prices on the website?

Because every quote is per practice and we will not publish a number only to change it after a conversation. You get a fixed, itemised, written quote before anything starts, and it does not drift mid-project.

One-time project or subscription: which should we pick?

If you have one defined problem, pick the project. If people questions land most weeks, or you run our systems, the subscription earns its keep. The honest comparison table on the subscription page is genuinely honest.

Are we locked into a long contract?

No long lock-ins. Notice periods are stated plainly in the agreement before you sign, and your data and documents are exportable if you leave.

Can we start small?

Most practices do: a single contract review or the health check first. Trust is built by delivery, not by brochure.

What does "white-labelled" actually mean?

The system carries your practice's name, logo and colours, not ours. To your team it is "our staff hub". We build, host and maintain it behind the scenes.

Do we need new hardware?

No. The systems run in a browser on whatever your practice already has: reception PCs, laptops, phones, a tablet on the wall if you like.

What if we already use practice management software?

Keep it. Our systems handle the staff side: rota, hours, leave, incidents, policies. They sit alongside clinical PMS rather than replacing it.

Can we get just one system, like the rota?

Yes. Each system stands alone, and they join up naturally if you add more later, because everything is built on one platform approach.

Where does our staff data live?

In your practice's own system instance, access-controlled by role, hosted and maintained by Vet HR. Staff data is processed under UK GDPR, and the detail is written down in our privacy policy.

Who owns the data in a Vet HR system?

Your practice does, full stop. Exports are available in usable formats, including if you decide to leave.

Is staff data shared with anyone?

No. It is your practice's data, used to run your practice's systems and nothing else. We do not sell, share or mine it.
